sully's player is syd Life and Death have decided that all sentient beings can be categorized to align with one or the other. Once they've decided you belong with one or the other, they're going to treat you as being 'theirs'. Not that they'll harbor animosity for those aligned with the other half; it's just like having favorite children, is all. This is so we can play with various mechanics and even facilitate some CR. bucky: death aligned because of the whole winter soldier life, plus the bonus of dying three times now (infinity war/duplicity/saltburnt). though he considers it four times, cause the fall counts to him (rip pre-hydra bucky). he pretty much aligns to most of death's themes, but crosses the line a little because of his whole werewolf side/serum stuff. plus future canon updates may impact that a little more, but happy to talk it over if the time comes.
charles: definitely life aligned. but he has a permanent link to erik (death aligned) that's slowly changing his world view the longer they're here. so happy for that to be picked up on if wanted.

Any notes: Being from a post-apoc canon, his whole life has been dictated by existing on the knife's edge of survival. In canon he's almost died a bunch of times, killed directly twice, and seen more people die than you could shake a stick at. In his CRAU game experiences he's died twice and killed a few more times. He's got a boatload of trauma, suffers chronic pain from his symbiote, has to actively fight to have hope (over basic pragmatism) in bad circumstances, and anger is his energy.

Any notes: The Awoken were created at the exact point where the Traveller's defensive wave met the Witness' fleet's attack during the Collapse - where Light met Darkness. Light and Darkness are analogous to and/or encompass Life and Death in the Destiny world build, and the Awoken being "born" from both is very important to them as a race and within the theological landscape of the story. Mara is personally also balanced between the two - she's a several millennia old ruler who's been in quite a few wars, suffered a load of personal grief and trauma, technically died herself a couple of times, but also was responsible for the creation of the Awoken race, and loves life and the universe and people enough that she forfeited true immortality in the long-game hopes of being able to save Earth.
